Don’t Quit The Artist’s Way
A new class by Chelsea Hodson
Most people who begin The Artist’s Way don’t finish it. They start with enthusiasm, write their Morning Pages, take themselves on an Artist Date or two—and then life intervenes. They miss a week, fall behind, and quietly abandon the whole thing.
Don’t Quit The Artist’s Way is a twelve-week class designed to help you make it all the way through Julia Cameron’s iconic book.
Beginning September 13, we’ll meet every Sunday to discuss one chapter of The Artist’s Way and explore its ideas together. We’ll talk about creative blocks, perfectionism, procrastination, jealousy, fear, self-doubt, the inner critic, attention, play, and what it means to build an artistic practice you can actually sustain.
This class is not about becoming perfectly disciplined or completing every exercise exactly as prescribed. It is about continuing—even when you miss a day, lose momentum, encounter resistance, or begin to doubt the process. Each week offers another opportunity to return.
Throughout the twelve weeks, you’ll practice the book’s two central tools: Morning Pages and Artist Dates. Our weekly meetings will provide structure, companionship, encouragement, and a place to reflect on what the process is bringing up for you.
This class is for anyone who has started The Artist’s Way before but never finished, as well as anyone encountering the book for the first time. You do not need to identify as an artist, and no previous experience is required. You only need a copy of the book, a notebook, and a willingness to show up imperfectly.
The point is not to do The Artist’s Way perfectly. The point is not to quit.
